HRDGA team wins 2021 Country Cup HRDGA team wins 2021 Country Cup

Country Cup

The 2021 Country Cup was played at Mussellbrook GC on Monday 12 July with the NHDLGA District taking on the HRDGA.   The competition was revised in 2019 from a “club v club” competition to a District v District competition.   Each District entered 17 two person teams with the winner being the District with the largest aggregate total score.

In a tightly contest competition on a near perfect day, HRDGA used their home course advantage to better the NHDLGA team.   Final score was HRDGA- 582 points def NHDLGA- 571 points.  The top team score was from the HRDGA team of 47 points (quite incredible), Second was another HRDGA team with 43 pts.   Third & fourth was 2 x NHDLGA Teams with both having 42 pts.

Congratulations to the HRDGA team.

History

In 2019 NHDLGA and HRDGA met to discuss introducing a modified Country Cup competition between the two Districts.  It was decided the event will be held beginning in 2019 with competition sites alternating between the two Districts. The first Country Cup was held in October 2019 at Kurri.  The selected format was a 4BBB stableford two-person team event with a team from NHDLGA playing with/against the HRDGA team.   Each District entered 17, 2 player teams (34 players) and the aggregate of the Best Ball scores determined the County Cup winner.
