Round 7 of weekend pennants has been re-scheduled.   Originally slotted to be played on 8 August, the round was cancelled due to Covid restrictions.   The District committee decided to re-schedule the event as there are 3 teams within 3 points of the pennant win.  The round is scheduled to be played at Nelson Bay on Sunday 29 August.   See the Pennant website for more information and an updated draw.

Katrina Kinner-Oyston (Maitland) scored a hole-in-one on the 4th hole at Tuncurry GC during their Open Day.   Katrina was the first to tee off on the 4th (about 115 m) and put the ball in the hole!  A hole-on-one is spectacular at any time but... the first shot of the day!  Incredible!   Congratulations Katrina

Chris Dunlop (Newcastle) had a hole-in-one on the 17th at Maitland during her pennant match.   She won the hole and went on to win her match!   Congratulations Chris!

The Country Cup was played yesterday at Muswellbrook GC with the NHDLGA District taking on the HRDGA.  HRDGA took advantage of their home course advantage and defeated NHDLGA in a tightly contested match.   Final score was HRDGA- 582 points  and  NHDLGA- 571 points.  Congratulations to the participants!

Merewether’s Stacie McDonald claimed the biggest title of her golfing life by winning the Srixon NSW MID Amateur Championships.   Originally from Queensland, McDonald made her debut in the mid-amateur ranks after turning 30 just a few weeks ago.

On a day when the weather threatened all day, McDonald carded her best round of the tournament, a three-over 75, to claim the women’s crown by eight shots from Bonnie Doon’s Ashleigh Arnold and Bonville’s Adele Douglas at Yarrawonga-Mulwala Golf Club.  Afterwards, McDonald said " I played solid...I made a silly mistake on the third, but steadied the ship, so 75 – best round of ther tournament, I’m happy with how I finished off.”

Congratulations Stacie on a fabulous win!

The weekend pennant draws have been updated with new times for round 2 on 20 June. Find the latest updates on the appropriate pennant website tab!

In their continuing effort to promote women's golf, the NHDLGA District Committee has set aside $20,000 to be granted to district clubs.   The grants aim to promote women in golf, increase women’s participation and retention, attract female junior members, and improve knowledge of the game of golf.    Any District club may apply for a grant upto $1000.   Find the guidelines and forms in the "Our District" in the "About" header.

The NHDLGA team won part 2 of the NewCoast Cup on Sunday to secure the win against a strong CCWGA team.   The singles matches were postponed due to severe weather in November and were played at Belmont Sunday 6 December.  The event concluded in quite hot & windy conditions, a stark contrast to the rainy, wet & cold conditions of the first round. The NHDLGA Team won 11.5- 6.5 over the CCWGA Team.  There were a total of 18 points up for grabs with the foursomes run first followed by the 12 singles matches. The NHDLGA Team had a slim lead after the first round going into the singles of 4-2.  The two teams had a great mix of young & more experienced players going head to head in the singles.  To win the cup, teams had to win at least 9.5 points.  In the end, the win went to the NHDLGA team with a 11.5- 6.5. win.   Competition was tough with 4 matches going to the 18th & another to the 17th.  Next years' competition will be held in the Central Coast.  Congratulations ladies!
