The Newcastle Hunter District Ladies Golf Association (NHDLGA) covers an area of over 350 sq km from Hawks Nest in the north, to Belmont in the south and extending west to Toronto, Kurri Kurri and Maitland. The Association has nearly 1900 lady golf members playing in 20 clubs throughout the region (see map).
Apart from organising annual Pennant competitions for our clubs, throughout the year the managing District Committee conducts golf tournaments and competitions and encourages members to participate to advance and promote the game of golf. These are held at different clubs throughout the District each year. Players from other Districts are welcome to play at our open events. Trophies and prizes are awarded at all events to winners and runner-ups usually in handicap divisions. Other prizes are presented on the day for novelty events, such as Nearest-the-Pins, and Longest Drive.
The NHDLGA is a not-for-profit organisation and the organising Committee comprises volunteer players from the District. All events are self funded from entry fees paid by the players, supported by generous sponsorship.
In their continuing effort to promote women's golf, the NHDLGA District Committee has set aside $20,000 to be granted to district clubs in CY 2021. The aim of the grant is to promote women in golf, increase women’s participation and retention, attract female junior members, and improve knowledge of the game of golf. Any District club may apply for a grant upto $1000. Update (Oct 2021): The period for grant application has concluded.
